Endothelin receptors are found in smooth muscle of blood vessels. Their function is vasoconstriction and sodium retention, to raise blood pressure. Overproduction of endothelin in the lungs may cause pulmonary hypertension, which can sometimes be treated by the use of an endothelin receptor antagonist. For Volibris® for Glaxo Smith Kline.
